The
ancient art of foot massage therapy
has been practiced throughout the
centuries by many different cultures.
The Egyptians, the Chinese and the
Native American Indian cultures all
independently developed methods which
were all based on the same principles
of foot massage therapy to bring about
relaxation. In the 20th century Eunice
Ingham took this concept still further
and mapped out the reflexes on the
feet and hands to all the organs and
the rest of the body from which Reflexology
evolved.
What we do...
By
applying acupressure and massage-like
techniques to the feet or hands, the
therapist can positively influence
all other parts of the body with reflexology.
The benefits...
Reflexology
enhances the body’s natural
healing process. A growing number
of research studies now demonstrate
the efficiency of reflexology. Ithas
been found to reduce stress and tension;
it is believed that 75% of our health
problems can be linked to nervous
stress and tension. Reflexology reduces
stress by inducing deep relaxation.
Reflexology Improves circulation:
Blood carries oxygen and other vital
nutrients through the body and carries
away toxins and waste products. One
of the symptoms of a stressful life
is an increase in blood circulation.
By increasing circulation with foot
massage therapy the body is more able
to receive the nutrients carried in
blood, and eliminate waste products
more effectively.
Reflexology
assists in the removal of toxins:
Our body also removes toxins through
our digestive and lymphatic system.
Reflexology can help by increasing
the flow and movements to these systems,
decreasing stress held in those areas
and clearing blockages. Regular foot
massage therapy can work gently to
bring relief directly to the area
of the body where stress and tension
is held.
